Corbyn tackles ‘greed is good’ capitalism at Labour conference
Corbyn will say: “Ten years ago this month, the whole edifice of greed-is-good, deregulated financial capitalism, lauded for a generation as the only way to run a modern economy, came crashing to earth, with devastating consequences.”
“But instead of making essential changes to a broken economics system, the political and corporate establishment strained every sinew to bail out and prop up the system that led to the crash in the first place.”
“People in this country know – they showed that in June last year – that the old way of running things isn’t working any more. That’s why Labour is offering a radical plan to rebuild and transform Britain.”
Alongside this statement, the Labour leader is expected to announce plans to launch a rollout of green technologies, to tackle climate change, with a “60% reduction in emissions by 2030”, and create “over 400,000 skilled jobs”.

May dodges more questions
Yesterday Theresa May spoke with Channel 4 News, where she agreed with Chancellor Merkel’s comments. The prime minister responded that she was “confident we can work on that timetable and come to an agreement with the European Union.”

Asked: “do you think your own Mps the ones who are threatening tonight again that they will rebel against this, Will pull back from the brink?” The prime minister responded: “What I believe is that when we return to parliament with a deal, parliament takes that vote.”
