Peter Harris, the long-time artist who has seen just about every side of the shape of art and music in his career, is re-introducing himself as a songwriter and performer, with his debut album, ‘Adverts’.
‘Nothing and Then Nothing’ is the first track to be released from ‘Adverts’, and features the legendary Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry, who delivers a monologue which may or may not have been summoned from another plane of existence. The accompanying visuals are not your normal run of the mill music video, either.
Peter Harris and Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry collaborated on a series of paintings last year called ‘The Higher Powers Bible: From Genesis to Revelation’, which featured Bible stories re-told with Lee Scratch Perry as the main character, alongside other famous faces.
A musical version of the Higher Powers Bible will be released by Trashmouth Records later in the year along with a fully illustrated book of the drawings to be published by And Pens.
Now, ‘Adverts’ sees Harris’ own musical ambitions come to life. His artistic style will remind many of the Reggae which he has spent a lot of his career admiring, but he has now also crafted out a style of his own. Another track on the album sees him collaborate with Vic Godard, the former singer of punk group Subway Sect.
The album, ‘Adverts’ is available 6th April.
